Failure Modes of Reinforced Concrete Beams Strengthened in Flexure with Externally Bonded Aramid Fiber-Reinforced Polymer Sheets under Impact Loading

This paper focuses on the aramid fiber-reinforced polymer (AFRP) sheet bonding method to investigate influences of volume and input impact energy failure modes strengthened RC beams. The drop-weight loading tests were conducted beams with AFRP sheets. was investigated, varying from 415 1660 g/m2. force generated by dropping a 300 kg steel weight onto midspan different heights (0.5, 1.0, 2.0, 2.5, 3.0, 3.5 m), weight’s drop height raised until sheets debonded or ruptured. As reference beam, nonstrengthened also evaluated. following are findings this research. (1) In event loading, resistance capacity can be enhanced up 85% applying method; however, (2) in case relatively large energy, may not always remarkable.
